Again, the first step is to boil ‘ water. As soon as it is ready, add a tablespoon of baking soda and mix until dissolved.
Continue by immersing the rod inside the bowl with the water and baking soda and leave it to rest for about 30 minutes. After this time, take the rod back, rinse it under running water and let it dry.
4) Use a toothbrush and some dish soap
This technique is also recommended only for those who have a hand blender with a removable shaft. This is a cleaning mode to be used, especially in the case of very stubborn dirt, such as oil, meat, or fish residues. Rather than using the classic dish sponge, which is not very useful between the blades, it is better to have a toothbrush. Add a drop of dish soap to a glass half-filled with water and dip the toothbrush in it, then proceed with cleaning. After removing the residues, remember to rinse thoroughly.

What can be prepared with the hand blender?
Smoothies and milkshakes
Preparing fresh and thirst-quenching drinks with the handheld stick blender is really simple. Just follow a few small precautions to get drinks that are perfect as at the bar.
Before starting setup, make sure your model is capable of crushing ice. Otherwise, you may inadvertently break the blades or burn the internal motor. The alternative to using ice is the use of previously chilled fruit (at least 3 hours in the refrigerator), but even without ice, the result will be equally excellent.
You just need to put in the coarsely chopped fruit, sugar, and ice and start blending everything. After a few seconds, you will have created a very thick puree, and you can proceed to add the milk slowly (while you continue to work the ingredients). Stop when you have reached the right consistency: the perfect smoothie is smooth, fluffy, and medium dense.
For milkshakes, on the other hand, it’s even simpler. Place the ice cream in the glass and start to work it, proceeding with the addition of milk slowly until you have reached the desired consistency.
Pureed vegetables and soups
The preparation of purees is also very simple. The first step is to make sure your hand blender is suitable for high temperatures. Otherwise, you risk overheating the motor. The second precaution to keep in mind is to never use the immersion handheld stick blender directly in the pot. It is necessary to transfer the vegetables into the special graduated glass, which is usually supplied, in order not to risk scratching the bottom of the pot.
For the soups, add the cooked vegetables to the glass, add salt and spices to taste, a few tablespoons of broth and start processing the ingredients, adding a little extra virgin olive oil or a knob of butter. If the cream is too thick, add a little more broth and work the ingredients again until you get the desired consistency.
For the vegetable puree, carry out the same operations, replacing the boiling water for the broth: in this way, the result will be lighter.
With the handheld blender, it is possible to make all types of pesto: from the classic basil pesto to walnut pesto, from Trapani pesto to pistachio pesto.
The foresight to pay attention to in these preparations is to always work the ingredients when they are completely dry, especially when it comes to leafy vegetables such as basil or rocket. The contact between the moving blades and the wet leaves, in fact, could cause oxidation of the same, which is a chemical process that affects both the color and the flavor of the pesto. Layer the ingredients well and finally add plenty of olive oil, which will serve to mix everything. If the processing of raw materials is difficult, do not worry: add a little more oil while the blender is running.
Mayonnaise and other sauces
Mayonnaise is another sauce that, like pesto, lends itself to many variations. Its preparation is slightly more complex, and we, therefore, recommend paying particular attention to details.
Use only very fresh eggs, despite the presence of lemon or vinegar. This ingredient is not cooked, so make sure you use eggs that can be eaten raw.
For creaming, it is better to use sunflower oil, which has a less intense flavor and at the same time is easier to whip. Do not overdo it with lemon juice or vinegar: the final taste may be too intense. Work the ingredients at maximum speed, keeping the stick of the hand blender always in the same position (almost at the bottom of the glass). In this way, the air produced will spread from the bottom upwards. Finally, add the oil slowly to obtain a perfect final result.
The immersion blender owes its name. By now, anyone will have realized it for themselves, to the way in which it should be used: in fact, it is literally immersed in everything we need to blend, giving us an excellent mince in a few moments. The shape of these objects, inevitably, is always elongated. Remarkable is the practicality and versatility of these tools, which have simplified, and not a little, the life of those who, for various reasons, often find themselves behind the stove to prepare more or less elaborate dishes.
It must also be said that these gadgets are nothing more than a sort of natural evolution of the classic blender that we all know and that we have seen in operation at least once. When the first-hand blender made their appearance on the market, they almost seemed like the poor brothers of the more popular models equipped with glasses: in fact, they were not very powerful and, in principle, were of little use.
Today, however, the manufacturers have really focused a lot on these products, so much so that they are now able to replace, and are already replacing, the old blender models. The secret of such success probably lies in the extreme versatility, in the undeniable practicality, and in the increasing completeness of functions possessed by the blender.
